The location of this hostel is great, right in front of the esplanade with beautiful views over the waterfront. the staff at the reception are welcoming and friendly, making sure guests know where everything is. the rooms are clean and comfortable, with modern facilities such as air conditioning and ceiling fans. the hostel also has a nice communal area with a balcony, perfect for socializing and meeting other travelers.
The kitchen and sitting areas can sometimes be unclean, which is a downside to an otherwise great hostel experience.

Excellent location in Cairns, at the esplanade next to the lagoon. Friendly staff.
They said there was a free pick-up service available, but it has a lot of conditions: Only free if you stay for 3 nights or longer, you should arrange your own pick up with one special company and than you can get your money back only with a receipt. Terrible. Stayed there 3 nights, but didn't manage to get my money ($18) back. Little bit noisy at nights (but it's a real backpacker-youth-hostel). Room was definitely not clean and no clean sheets at first.

The place is very well situated for those that are looking to make most of their time in Cairns with everything easily within walking distance. It also has a built in booking agent which seemed to have some reasonable deals going with regard to activities & excursion. With regard to cost the hotel is reasonably priced but you most definitely get what you pay for. So be aware!
When booking there was definitely some ambiguity to the details of the hotel. Eg. 1. States that there is a free hotel transfer which there is technically but only if you stay min 3 nights & your outlay is then refunded. 2. We booked double expecting to get that however were given a twin (Bunk Beds) so might pay to call aheaded to clarify what it is that you are getting. 3. Bathrooms & amenities could do with an update or just a good clean. We originally booked 4 nights but only stayed the one as it wasn't what we expected & were able to find something more in line with our expectations. So if you're look for somewhere cheap to crash then this might be for you but in my opinion there better options available. Shop around, well worth it!

Staffs are all nice!!!Bathrooms are clean.
As we lived in touble bed in one room, the bed will make noise when people sit and leave. Need variety of dinner with beverage.

The location. Air conditioner in room.
No windows in the room! 2 bathrooms upstairs, in one the toilet was out of order, in the other bathroom the shower was out of order. The paintwork on the walls was atrocious.

This waterfront hostel is a perfect place for a group of friends to stay. the staff is friendly and helpful, providing great tips on local attractions and tours. the lounge area offers a relaxed atmosphere with stunning views of the esplanade. the recently renovated private rooms are clean and comfortable, with modern amenities. Guests can also enjoy a well-equipped common area and kitchen to socialize with other travelers.
Some guests had issues with noise from the common room and lack of curfew on loud movies, which may affect sleep quality.

Room ok and reasonably clean. For such a price, ($23/px for a Twin room) don't expect too much. Friendly and helpful staff, Location is super near the city center. Free meal at a restaurant 2 blocks away every night (with a minimum purchase of a soft drink for $2.5, or add $6-8 for a steak/ bbq ribs)
Only 4 shower rooms available (as one shower was damaged and did not repair). Room has no hooks to hang our clothing/towel. The temperature and pressure of hot water is unstable. The cups and pots were missing in the early morning (the people take away the cups and pots overnight in their own room), so we can't cook in the early morning. I don't know why the staff charge me $5 to book the fnq shuttle bus for me via his internet,( I believe you call the bus company directly, can save that $5)

I made the booking on here so me and my boyfriend could have our own double room but when I arrived at the hostel, even with my confirmation email they had no record of me staying and had no double rooms so we ended up in a pokie small twin room with bunk beds. Wasn't really what we were planning!
